Hey there...it's me again. I should really apologize for the silence but, really...aren't you getting tired of me 'sorry-ing' you to death every week or so? ;)
Things here are uber busy, even more than usual for some reason. We've also had some computer and internet issues, so I've been doing everything from my phone. Aaaaand, since I haven't figured out mobile blogging, this little hidey-hole has been put on the back burner yet again. If it's any consolation (it's not, I know), I've gone to bed so many nights thinking, "I need to blog about all that happened today"!
Of course, I can't think of any of those cool/inspirational/thoughtful/monumental things just now, so I'll tell you about some of today instead. :)
I took PJ for her 21 month check-up (thus the title of this post). I don't know if I've ever really told you, but she really, really, really hasn't liked the doctor's office in the past. Since she got old enough to have stranger anxiety, she's wailed from the moment we walked in the door, regardless of our reason for being there. Awesome. I'm sure they just loooove to see us coming. ;) Seriously, it was so stressful for both of us that I hated to see those visits coming.
But, the stranger anxiety has pretty much passed and we've been actively working on making doctor visits a happier event. We've talked about what the nurses and doctor will look at, touch, talk about, etc. We've read books and watched DVDs and looked at pics of every medical related thing that a toddler could need to know but I have to tell you, I just KNEW it was all in vain.
Boy, was I wrong!! :)
We went for her visit today and it went great! SHE was great! She went in, sat down, and played quietly until it was our turn. She stepped on the scale and let the nurse measure her height with no problem. Side note here: I forgot to prep her on having her head measured. Duh, Kelli! You almost dropped the ball there. In my defense, none of the stuff we read or watched had head measuring, so apparently, I wasn't the only one who forgot. ;) So, there was a little apprehension when that part came but she did really well. She let the doctor examine her with no problem and even talked to her...shyly,of course, but clearly and pretty concisely for a 21 month old! And not one tear was shed!! Praise the Lord!
The icing on the cake, of course, is that she is healthy and whole and couldn't be doing better. She weighs 25.5 lbs. and is 32.5 inches tall, just about the 50th percentile for both categories. She has 12 teeth with 2 more beginning to erupt and is quite the talker. The doctor was actually pretty impressed that she is already speaking in sentences much of the time. That's my girl...the talker! ;)
I can't believe my baby is 21 months old already! Her 2 year old birthday is just around the corner...so bittersweet. It's something I didn't think that I'd ever be blessed to be part of...and now something that I can't imagine my life without. It's still amazing to me! :D

Wow... she's getting so big! Doesn't it just kind of sneak up on you? Crazy!
Have you been thinking about what you're going to do for her birthday?
Wow! Such a big girl already! I'm so impressed with her vocabulary - we're still working in one-word bursts.
Glad you're doing well!
Yay!! So glad it wasn't traumatic this time!! How fantastic you are as a Mama for prepping Miss P for the doctor visits. LD is a mess when we go to the doctor and I just accepted it and didn't even think to prep him to make it easier. You'll have to share your methods. You're doing a fantastic job Mama!!
